2. Match Rules

2.1. Match setup and player conduct

2.1.1. All matches must be played using Clash Royale's official in-game battle and challenge systems, as instructed by the tournament administrators.

2.1.2. Players must use the account associated with their registered British Esports Student Champs profile or roster.

2.1.3. Each individual battle must be played between the two nominated players using the approved match settings.

2.1.4. Players must not intentionally disconnect, manipulate matchmaking, exploit bugs or engage in behaviour intended to gain an unfair advantage.

2.1.5. Players must not receive live gameplay assistance, including deck selection advice or tactical instructions, from coaches, spectators or other individuals during a battle.

2.1.6. Players may communicate with their teammates between battles, provided that doing so does not delay the fixture or breach any tournament instructions.

2.1.7. Players must not deliberately lose a battle, collude with opponents or manipulate the result of a fixture.

2.2. Match format

2.2.1. Each fixture will consist of three individual 1v1 battles between the nominated players of the two teams.

2.2.2. The fixture winner will be the team that wins at least two of the three individual battles.

2.2.3. If a player is unable to compete after the fixture has begun, the team must contact a tournament administrator. The administrator will determine whether a substitute is permitted or whether the affected battle must be forfeited.

2.2.4. If a fixture cannot be completed because of a technical issue, the players must stop and contact a tournament administrator. Players must not independently decide to replay or award a battle.

2.3. Battle settings and deck selection

2.3.1. The tournament will use standard 1v1 battles through the approved in-game challenge system. The tournament administrators will specify the exact challenge type and settings before the competition begins.

2.3.2. The standardised card-level cap for this competition is level 11 so that differences in player progression do not create an unfair advantage.

2.3.3. All players must use the same approved battle format throughout a fixture. Special event modifiers, alternative game modes and non-standard rules may only be used when explicitly approved by the tournament administrators.

2.3.4. Players may select their own legal decks unless the tournament administrators publish additional deck restrictions.

2.3.5. Players may change their decks between individual battles. Once a battle has started, players must not attempt to alter the battle or gain an advantage through prohibited methods.

2.3.6. All cards, evolutions, Champions and Tower Troops available through the approved battle format may be used unless specifically prohibited by the tournament administrators.

2.3.7. Any newly released card, evolution, Tower Troop or other gameplay feature may be restricted if the tournament administrators determine that it has not been sufficiently tested or balanced for competitive play.

2.3.8. If a card or gameplay feature is temporarily banned, the restriction must be communicated to all participating teams before the relevant fixture.

2.3.9. Players must not use unauthorised third-party software, bots, scripts, exploits or other tools that provide an unfair competitive advantage.

2.4. Starting and reporting matches

2.4.1. The home team, as identified on the official match page, will be responsible for initiating contact with the opposing team and arranging the match lobby or challenge, unless otherwise instructed.

2.4.2. Both teams must confirm their nominated players before the first battle begins.

2.4.3. Players must check that they are challenging the correct opponent and using the approved match format before starting.

2.4.4. Once both teams have confirmed their readiness, the first battle may begin.

2.4.5. Players must not start a battle if the wrong opponent, incorrect settings or an unauthorised game mode is being used. The issue must be reported to an administrator before play begins.

2.4.6. Following each battle, the result must be recorded accurately. Both teams should retain screenshots or other suitable evidence of the result.

2.4.7. After all required battles have been completed, the designated team Leader must submit or confirm the overall fixture result using the official competition platform.

2.4.8. Any disagreement about a battle result must be reported to a tournament administrator as soon as possible, with supporting evidence where available.

2.5. Disconnections and technical issues

2.5.1. If a player disconnects or experiences a connection problem during a battle, the battle result will be handled according to the official game's outcome and any applicable tournament instructions.

2.5.2. A player must not assume that a battle will be replayed because of a connection issue.

2.5.3. If a battle cannot be completed because of a verified game or server issue, the teams must contact an administrator before attempting a replay.

2.5.4. Tournament administrators may order a replay, uphold the original result or award a forfeit, depending on the circumstances and the available evidence.

2.5.5. Repeated avoidable disconnections, deliberate abandonment of battles or attempts to exploit technical issues may result in penalties.

2.6. Streaming and spectating

2.6.1. Matches may only be streamed or publicly broadcast with the agreement of both teams and any additional permissions required by British Esports Student Champs.

2.6.2. Tournament administrators and individuals explicitly authorised to spectate may request access where the game format permits it. Players and teams must comply with reasonable tournament administration requests.

2.6.3. Coaches, managers and other unauthorised spectators may only observe matches where permitted by the tournament administrators and, where required, both teams.

2.6.4. Spectators must not provide live gameplay information, deck information or tactical advice to a player during a battle.

2.6.5. Streamers must not use spectator information, private communications or other unauthorised sources to gain an advantage for either team.

2.6.6. If a stream delay is required for a particular event, the tournament administrators will communicate the minimum delay that must be used.

2.7. Timeouts and rescheduling

2.7.1. There are no tactical timeouts during an individual battle.

2.7.2. Players may request a short pause between battles to address a technical issue, provided that the opposing team is informed and the delay remains reasonable.

2.7.3. Teams must not unnecessarily delay the start or continuation of a fixture.

2.7.4. Rescheduling requests, late arrivals and no-shows will be handled in accordance with the British Esports Student Champs General Rules.

2.7.5. Where an exceptional circumstance prevents a team from completing a fixture, the team Leader must contact a tournament administrator as soon as possible.
